ABOUT OUR WORK WITH PEOPLE
Therapeutic and Educational Farming Experiences
Here at The Hope Farm Project, we believe that working with plants and animals in the Great Outdoors offers massive benefits to people of all ages, both mentally and physically.
Our farm site is located at a beautiful spot in Halberton, near Tiverton. We offer a range of activities, centred largely around managing the land and our livestock to produce healthy, ethical food.
We are keen to work with local people of any age - particularly those with a defined need. These may be children or young people struggling in education, adults with mental health issues, older people with dementia - or any of a wide range of other types of people and circumstances. If you know of anyone who you feel might benefit from what we have to offer, please get in touch using the Contact page on our website to discuss further. We would love to hear from you!
We are a registered Centre for the AQA Unit Award Scheme, providing us with a great way to formally recognise the achievements of Co-Farmers (of any age) during their time on the Project. The units cover a wide range of both practical skills and more knowledge-based learning. Certificates are issued to Co-Farmers who are interested in following the Scheme, as and when they complete units.
We currently offer Unit Award opportunities in animal husbandry, horticulture, wildlife, woodwork and other rural crafts. However, there are many units in all sorts of other areas which we are able to cover on-site, according to the needs and interests of the individual.
We are also an approved Centre for the delivery of land-based qualifications at Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1. in 2021-22 we have been running a Level 1 qualification in Practical Countryside Skills with groups of young people aged 14-19. This course offers a broad range of options. Just some of the units we have covered this year are:
Tractor driving
Animal health and well-being
Feeding and watering animals
Movement, handling and accommodation of animals
Using a petrol strimmer
Pruning fruit trees
Maintaining metal surfaces and structures
Mixing mortar and concrete
If you are interested in enrolling on this course, please get in touch for more information.
